On Nov. 9, bus drivers at First Student in Chicago voted 67-6 to join Teamsters Local 777. The drivers will join hundreds of First Student school bus workers currently represented by Local 777.

Nationally, the Teamsters represent thousands of school bus workers at many different employers.

Drivers will immediately be covered by the existing First Student National Master Agreement, which provides workers with industry-leading job protections. A local supplemental agreement will be negotiated to cover wages, benefits and additional work protections.

The Chicago area has become a mecca for private school bus companies–all of the large bus companies have locations in Chicago and the surrounding area.
