Teamster Brothers and Sisters joyfully participated in the Northwest Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the City of Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade again this year. Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 has long participated in both legendary parades.

The 14th Annual Northwest Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade was conducted on Saturday March 11 on the Northwest Side of Chicago on Northwest Highway. Joint Council No. 25 gladly donates the usage of necessary stage and audio equipment utilized as the parade reviewing stand. IBT Local 731, Local 734 and Local 786 played a major role in the success of the this year’s parade, which set a new record for involvement and attendance.

Since its inception, the Northwest Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been organized by Elizabeth Murray-Belcaster. Murray-Belcaster is a long time advocate for working families.

The Northwest Side Irish Parade Committee has selected Terrence J. Hancock, President of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25, and his son Bryan D. Hancock to participate as the 2019 Grand Marshals and Humanitarians for their extraordinary work on behalf of “In Search of a Cure,” an organization dedicated to autism awareness.

In past years, Michael Yauger, President of Local 786, and Brian Meidel, President of Local 734, have served as Grand Marshals of the Northwest Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The 63rd Annual Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade was held on Saturday March 17 in the heart of the Windy City. Teamsters Joint Council No. 25, along with IBT Local 731 and Local 705, paraded north on Columbus Drive, unveiling the newly redesigned Joint Council No. 25 tractor/trailer unit. This event also reached new heights this year with added participation and general attendance.

“The Chicago Parades are a great opportunity for Teamsters Joint Council 25 to participate in important community events that proudly support worthwhile charities, as well as cultural neighborhoods,” said Terrence J. Hancock, President of Joint Council 25. “It is times like this that we can proudly display our Teamster pride and remind folks that Chicago and this great Country were built by union labor.”

The Teamsters Union thanks the Northwest Side Irish Parade Foundation for their wonderful commitment to the various charities that rely on their heartfelt support.
Special appreciation must be mentioned on behalf of Chicago Plumbers Local 130 UA which has and is a major proponent and proud sponsor of the Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The city celebration doesn’t happen without the Plumbers Union and the outstanding dedicated volunteers.

Thank you to everyone that assisted and attended these two great functions.

Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 is the premier labor organization providing invaluable support and services to all Local Union Affiliates throughout the State of Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
