When the COVID-19 Pandemic first hit Chicago, Rush University Medical Center Patient Care Technicians Catina Reed and Aisha Slaughter were designated to work on COVID-19 units, taking care of patients battling the virus. At first, no one really knew what to expect, but soon they would be holding the hands of dying patients because no visitors were allowed, or holding the phone up to a patients ear just so they could speak to their family. Every hospital in America was desperate for PPE for its frontline workers. With Teamsters Local 743 behind them, the PCT’s at Rush were able to acquire the PPE that keeps them safe as they spend their days taking care of COVID-19 patients.

With the Essential Worker Series, Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 is recognizing the hard work of Members who have been deemed essential workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
