Workers Servicing North Boone School District Join Local 325
Approximately 30 bus drivers and mechanics with North Boone Community Unit School District 200 have ratified their first contract as new members of Teamsters Local 325.
The three-year agreement includes wage increases and other benefits for members of the bargaining unit. The school district services about 1,800 students enrolled in grades preschool through high school in and around Poplar Grove, Ill.
The bus drivers and mechanics overwhelmingly voted to join the Teamsters in 2013.
“The Teamsters are excited to welcome more and more bus drivers, mechanics, aides and attendants into the union at a time when working families need all the protections they can get,” said Richard Thompson, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 325. “Local 325 is proud of the work our members in the North Boone community have done to ratify a strong Teamster contract. The duties they perform are essential to providing a safe and reassuring educational experience for our children.”
Local 325 also represents approximately 75 school bus drivers, aides and attendants employed by First Student in Rockton, Ill. The First Student Teamsters transport students in several neighboring communities, including South Beloit and Roscoe.
