The current Executive Board was reelected to lead Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 into the future at the November 2019 Delegates Meeting. The Executive Board ran unopposed and Delegates from the Joint Council’s 25 Affiliated Local Unions also elected the first African-American woman to its Executive Board in its 109 year history.

The Executive Board shall consist of:

■ Terrence J. Hancock, President

■ Thomas W. Stiede. Secretary-Treasurer

■ Brian Meidel, Vice President

■ James T. Glimco, Recording Secretary

■ Keith E. Gleason, Trustee

■ Dominic Romanazzi, Trustee

■ Debra Simmons-Peterson, Trustee

Terry Hancock has served as President of Joint Council No. 25 since 2017. Hancock has served on the Executive Board of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 since 2007 and has previously held the positions of Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer and Trustee. Hancock has also served as President of Teamsters Local 731 since 2005.

“It is an honor to be elected by my Teamster Brothers and Sisters to lead us into the future as we fight for the rights of workers throughout the State of Illinois and Northwest Indiana,” Hancock said.

Hancock joined Teamsters Local Union No. 731 in 1979 as a rank-and-file semi-dump tractor/trailer Chauffeur. During his four-decade career with Teamsters Local 731 and Joint Council 25, Hancock has also been appointed to several leadership posts at the IBT in Washington DC by Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa, and also serves on the Executive Board of the Chicago Federation of Labor, the Board of Trustees of the Italian American Labor Council and the Illinois Teamsters/Employers Apprenticeship and Training Fund and is Co-Chairman of the Amalgamated Bank Labor Council Illinois/Metropolitan Chapter.

“In my many years of service to labor, I have seen how not only strong, but smart leadership can win the freedoms, protections and benefits that allow workers to provide for their families and secure their future,” Hancock said.
Ms. Debra Simmons-Peterson is the first African-American woman to be elected to the Executive Board of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25. Simmons-Peterson was also the first African-American woman to be elected IBT Local 743’s President in 2013.
“It is an honor and a privilege to represent so many hardworking Teamsters in the City of Chicago and throughout the State of Illinois and Northwest Indiana,” Simmons-Peterson said. “I vow to have the same commitment to providing excellent service to our Local Union Affiliates as I have to our hardworking Local 743 members.”

Simmons joined Teamsters Local 743 in 1975 while working in the Transportation Department of Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital. She has held several leadership roles within Local 743 and has also served as the President of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 Women’s Committee and on the Teamsters Volunteers in Politics (T.V.I.P.) Committee.

Mr. Thomas W. Stiede has been a member of the Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 Executive Board since 2004 and has previously served as Trustee and Recording Secretary. Stiede first joined IBT Local 703 in 1977 working as a warehouseman for Dominick’s Finer Foods. Tom has served as Local 703’s Secretary-Treasurer since 1995.

Mr. Brian Meidel has served on the Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 Executive Board since 2008. Meidel joined Teamsters Local 734 in 1975 as a warehouse worker at Mary Ann Baking Company. Brian has served as Local 734’s President since 1995.

Mr. James T. Glimco was first elected as a Trustee on the Executive Board of the Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 in 2008. Glimco joined the Teamsters Union in 1989 as a Business Agent for Teamsters Local 777. Jim has served as President of Local 777 since 1993.

Mr. Keith Gleason was first appointed as a Trustee to Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 Executive Board in 2017. Gleason joined Teamsters Local 627 in 1972 as a mechanic for Ruann Transportation. Keith is the longest serving Delegate in Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 and has served as Teamsters Local 627’s President since 1998.

Mr. Dominic Romanazzi was first appointed to Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 Executive Board as a Trustee in 2019. Romanazzi joined Teamsters Local 726 in 1986 as an employee of the Illinois State Tollway Authority. Dominic subsequently joined Teamsters Local 330 and has served as its President since 2004.

he Executive Board will be sworn in at the January 2020 Delegates session.

The new Term of Office shall be January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2023.
