Teamsters Local 301 has successfully negotiated strong new wage increases and other
protections for 40 paratransit drivers in north suburban McHenry, Ill.

The new Teamsters, employees of First Transit, organized to join Local 301 earlier this year with
the assistance of the Teamsters Joint Council 25 Organizing Department. The drivers
overwhelmingly approved the five-year agreement in October, ratifying their first Teamster
contract.

“The hardworking McHenry drivers at First Transit are a phenomenal group of individuals who
put in an honest day’s work, stick together and deserve respect.”  -Michael T. Haffner,
Secretary-Treasurer of Local 301

“The hardworking McHenry drivers at First Transit are a phenomenal group of individuals who
put in an honest day’s work, stick together and deserve respect,” said Michael T. Haffner,
Secretary-Treasurer of Local 301. “Our newest members have ratified a strong first contract, and
Local 301 couldn’t be happier to include these upstanding workers in our Teamster family.”

In addition to other benefits, the Local 301 drivers will receive between 4 and 16 percent wage
increases in the initial year of the contract, based on years of service, and between 3 and 4
percent raises each subsequent year of the five-year agreement. Local 301 also negotiated the
Teamsters’ powerful and unparalleled grievance procedure into the agreement to protect
members at work.
