The International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced its endorsement of former Vice President Joe Biden for President and Senator Kamala Harris of California for Vice President, citing their strong record of standing with working families throughout their careers.

Biden and Harris both signed the Teamsters Pledge last year promising to back the union’s priorities – pension reform, collective bargaining rights and fair trade, including related legislation. They also both sat down with the Teamsters to discuss their views on the issues. Biden also participated in the union’s candidate forum held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa last December. Teamsters Joint Council 25 and Local 731 President Terrence J. Hancock attended the forum in Iowa, and was impressed by the former Vice President’s commitment to the interests of working families.

“Former Vice President Biden stood in a hall full of hundreds of Teamsters and made a promise to fight to strengthen unions. He and Senator Kamala Harris know their commitment to us means they will fight to protect our right to organize, bargain for fair wages and secure a safe retirement,” Hancock said. “I am excited by the strong record and indomitable spirit of these two friends of labor, and cannot wait to see them takeover in the White House in 2021.”
